Why doesnt my mouse or keys work on my laptop?

So I was on facebook,. doing my own little thing, lol, and my laptop freezes, I turned it off by the switch, then i turned it on, just a black blank screen, so i waited a while, and it finally turned onn, But the mouse would not move, and the keys was messed up, e.g esc button made caps lock turn off, i turned the laptop off again, and not the keys wont work?, I cant do anything, And I am stuck on the start screen, I cant take it back to the shop and get a new one, so pls dont say that, But I really need help?
