Why won't videos play onn iPad (not flash)?

I'm trying to watch a few episodes of a show online and I tried at least five different websites that I know have worked before, but non of then actually play the video. I tried animefreak.tv and it said the word play,vbut clicking it only brought me to another page with a medium black box thatvalso said play thatvdid nothing. Why cant this stupid iPad play any videos??
