When i try uninstall my sims 3 it dosent workk Helpp!!?

when i go onto control pannel and that i click uninstall it comes up with: the sims 3 update cannnot continue because programs associated with the sims 3 are currently running please stop theese applications befpre attemting to update sims 3' HELP i dont no what to do i just want to play onn the sims withought it crashing or blacking out !!!!!! please reply asap <3
