What should I do about this guy?

One of my friends told me this guy liked me a couple nights ago, but she told me when she wasn't supposed to tell. So he finally admitted he liked me. I told him that I kind of liked him, but I think we need to get to know each other better. He said that was his original plan. Although, I'm not sure if I like this guy full onn. Sometimes I like him when he acts a certain way, yet sometimes he says things that sound really gay and I don't like him. I've been being nice to him, but if he ever asks me out, should I give him a chance? Idk what to do..
