What's a good book about kids with special abilities?

I really liked the Midnighters when I read it years ago. I think the author was Scott Westerfield. Also though it's sort of about vampires and not kids with special abilities, you could give the Cirque du Freak series a try if you haven't already, I used to love that series. Afraid I can't help you much more than that, it's been years since I've read YA fiction.
