Should I go for it or too soon to tell?

I am LDS and many mormons try to get married soon. This guy is a return missionary and of course is looking for a girlfriend. He and I have been talking and flirting hardcore lately but I don't want to think its just my perception. I want to ask him out but I don't want us to actually date and get married so soon, what should I do or say if he asks me?
