How can we raise funds to save an old theater?

There is a theater where I live that was built in 1924. We need to raise enough money to repair the roof first. Then we can start on the inside. Any ideas on how to raise money? Bake sales and car washes are nice ideas, but won't be enough. This theater has a Broadway style stage, and has seen the likes of Will Rogers, Harry Houdini, just to name a couple. Any good ideas?
